Coggs-Jones wins District 10 Milwaukee County Board seat by 12 votes

Human resources professional Priscilla E. Coggs-Jones bested Youth Justice Milwaukee s Darrin B. Madison Jr. in Tuesday s special election to represent District 10 of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors.
The difference was 12 votes, with Coggs-Jones holding 1,545 votes to Madison s 1,533. The slim margin may trigger a recount.
According to the official recount manual from the Wisconsin Elections Commission, a filing fee would be required for Madison because less than 4,000 ballots were cast and the margin of victory is greater than 10.
Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley called a special election to fill the seat that represents a swath of Milwaukee from West Wisconsin Avenue on the south to West Congress Street on the north. ....

“I’m hoping that the closing of Lincoln Hills is a moot point for us by the end of 2021,” said Mertens, who added that the total was 120 just a few years ago. “Our wildest hope was to get down below 50.” ....
