The Community Lunch Program For Kids (Norwood, Norfolk and Raymondville) would like to express our most sincere appreciation to the following businesses, foundations, civic groups and churches for their incredible generosity to CLPK. WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - We meet a retired Watertown teacher who is helping students become philanthropists of the future.
Emily Sprague spent 30 years teaching English at Watertown High School, but that isn’t where her teaching days stopped.
Sprague is an advisor of the Youth Philanthropy Council, a group of North Country high school students.
The program was created by the Northern New York Community Foundation.
“We are trying to teach them to become the not-for-profit board members of the future, community servants and philanthropists of the future,” said Sprague. ....

San Ysidro Health Hosts 2nd Annual El Zapaton Event

San Ysidro Health, a non-profit healthcare provider, will be hosting its 2nd annual “El Zapaton” children’s shoe giveaway event on Thursday, Dec 17 and Friday, Dec 18. The affair will take place at the organization’s corporate site, San Ysidro Health, Precision park. All safety protocols will be followed, including social distancing and wearing masks, and all attendees have preregistered.
The drive-thru event will provide new shoes, bookbags, food and essential health kits to the organization’s pediatric patients. This year, a total of 422 pairs of shoes will be distributed to children in the South Bay and East County neighborhoods.
“San Ysidro Health is committed to continue to provide comprehensive health services and support to all in the region including parents, many who are essential workers, and families who reside in zip codes where the COVID-19 rate is much higher than the rest of the county,” said Kevin Mattson, president and CEO, San Ysidro Health. ....
