Notwithstanding the fact that Pakistan has implemented 26 out of 27 action plans given by the FATF, it remains in the grey list. It has also been given a new six point action plan to remove deficiencies in Mutual Evaluation Report in order to secure exit from the list. Foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reacting to the development said “there was no justification for keeping Pakistan in the grey list adding that some powers wanted to keep the country under pressure,” though he did not name those powers.
Placing Pakistan on the grey list and then persisting with it in spite of faithful implementation of almost the entire action plan given to her is not only politically motivated but also discriminatory.Official circles believe that it was unfair to undertake two different processes against Pakistan simultaneously. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Committee on Interior on Tuesday gave approval of strong legislation, suggesting stringent punishment to child abuse and rape cases.
While The Criminal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 (Section 297A, Act XLV of 1860) introduced by Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi was discussed in detail and it was suggested in the bill that whoever commits rape, molestation of any kind to any human corpse shall be punished with imprisonment of life not less than 14 years and a fine which may extend to one million but not less than one hundred thousand rupees. Senate panel passes bill seeking hanging of child abusers - Newspaper


ISLAMABAD: A Senate committee on Tuesday passed a bill seeking public hanging of child sexual abusers amid a walkout by Leader of the House in the Senate Dr Shahzad Waseem from its meeting.
The Criminal Laws Amendment Bill, 2020, was moved by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Javed Abbasi and passed by the Senate Standing Committee on Interior. The bill wants high courts to conduct the trial of sexual offences against children and set a time frame of 30 days for completion of the trial and two months for adjudicating upon the appeals by the Supreme Court.
Chairman of the committee and former interior minister Rehman Malik presided over the meeting. ....
