James Nesbitt "galled" never to be cast in Jed Mercurio's Line of Duty

James Nesbitt has revealed he’s “galled” to have never been considered for crime drama Line of Duty, which is filmed in his home country of Northern Ireland.

The actor headlines upcoming BBC One cold case series Bloodlands, in which he plays Northern Irish detective Tom Brannick.
Speaking exclusively to
Radio Times for this week’s issue, Nesbitt reveals that his casting in Bloodlands came about after he bumped into Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio at a party.
“I said, ‘Come on, Jed, when are we going to get a chance to work together?’” he remembers. “Even though Line of Duty had been shot here for years I was never considered for it, which has always slightly galled me.” ....

Is Bloodlands the new Bodyguard? Jed Mercurio's new drama stars James Nesbitt as an Irish detective

Anticipation for the upcoming crime drama Bloodlands produced by Line of Duty and Bodyguard creator Jed Mercurio ramped up this week as the BBC released a new trailer.
The four-part thriller, set in Northern Ireland, stars James Nesbitt as police detective Tom Brannick, who is on the hunt for a serial killer known as Goliath.
The 40-second teaser reveals that the evasive murderer is responsible for killing Brannick s wife while he was at large 20 years ago.
The BBC One series, directed by Omagh and Dredd s Pete Travis, sees Brannick re-open the cold case after a possible suicide note is found in an abandoned car in Strangford Lough, a large inlet in County Down. ....

Mercurio, the man behind thriller hits like Line of Duty and Bodyguard is producing Bloodlands, the script is being written by first time TV writer, Chris Brandon.
He told the BBC he was “absolutely delighted that the first opportunity I get to tell a story on this scale, it is one that is so close to home and the people and places that raised me”. ....

The Line of Duty creator has a thrilling new series.
Bloodlands is the latest series by Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio, and a first look trailer has just landed.
Set in Northern Ireland, the series stars James Nesbitt as police detective Tom Brannick.
Until now we only had a synopsis for Bloodlands, but a 50 second trailer has given us a proper glimpse of what to expect.
The moody and tense trailer sees Nesbitt’s character explaining who Goliath is, and revealed that he murdered his wife.
