KLCI closes 0.84% or 13.72 points lower on profit taking


KUALA LUMPUR (March 12): The FBM KLCI continued to extend its losses today, finishing 0.84% or 13.72 points lower at 1,615.69.
According to Rakuten Trade Research head of equity sales Vincent Lau, the index was down due to profit taking ahead of the weekend amid mixed performances regionally.
Specifically, Supermax Corp Bhd, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd and Top Glove Corp Bhd posted declines today. While the FBM KLCI declined, indices such as the FBM ACE, FBM Small Cap and FBM Fledgling indices posted gains.
The FBM ACE was up 2.13% or 222.07 points higher at 10,665.19, while the Small Cap was up by 0.19% or 31.13 points at 16,806.82. Meanwhile, the Fledgling Index finished 0.77% or 164.52 points higher at 21,551.02.

KLCI reverses loss to tick higher, but gains seen limited


KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 22): The main index of Bursa Malaysia reversed its loss and ticked higher in the mid-morning today, tracking regional markets, but gains were seen limited.
At 10am, the FBM KLCI had added 0.18 points to 1,585.11. The index earlier slipped to a low of 1,585.54.
Gainers led losers by 541 to 441, while 367 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.95 billion shares valued at RM1.39 billion.
The gainers included Heineken Malaysia Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd, Pimpinan Ehsan Bhd, Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd, Kobay Technology Bhd, KESM Industries Bhd and Petronas Gas Bhd (PetGas).
The actively traded stocks included Key Alliance Group Bhd, Nexgram Holdings Bhd, Mestron Holdings Bhd, Dolphin International Bhd, AT Systematization Bhd, EA Holdings Bhd and Sapura Energy Bhd.

KLCI recovers lost ground, regional markets retreat from highs


KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 19): The main index at Bursa Malaysia recovered lost ground and climbed at the midday break today, while regional markets pulled back from all-time highs.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI rose 3.28 points to 1,579.12. The index had earlier slipped to a low of 1,573.84.
Market breadth remained cautious with 446 losers and 361 gainers, while 731 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was a brisk 9.1 billion shares valued at RM3.69 billion.
The gainers included Genetec Technology Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Unisem (M) Bhd, Batu Kawan Bhd, Nestle (M) Bhd, Mr DIY Group (M) Bhd, Tasco Bhd, Greatech Technology Bhd, Heineken Malaysia Bhd and PPB Group Bhd.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 19): The main index at Bursa Malaysia reversed its earlier gains and drifted lower at mid-morning today, tracking lacklustre regional markets following the overnight decline at US markets.
At 10am, the FBM KLCI dipped 0.64 points to 1,575.20. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,582.18.
Market breadth turned negative with 658 losers and 258 gainers, while 376 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 4.46 billion shares valued at RM1.75 billion.
The top losers included Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd, CI Holdings Bhd, Lii Hen Industries Bhd, Aeon Credit Service (M) Bhd, Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd and Muda Holdings Bhd.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 1.05 points at 1,587.18. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,592.27.
Losers led gainers by 443 to 274, while 731 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 2.97 billion shares valued at RM1.83 billion.
The gainers included Ann Joo Resources Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Cymao Holdings Bhd, Euro Holdings Bhd, Widetech (M) Bhd, Aeon Credit Service (M) Bhd and Paragon Union Bhd.

At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 9.62 points to 1,582.95. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,586.90.
Gainers led losers by 557 to 446, while 458 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.93 billion shares valued at RM2.28 billion.
The gainers included Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd, Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, PLS Plantations Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd, Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd and MISC Bhd.

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 2): The main index at Bursa Malaysia got into consolidation mode in the morning trade session Tuesday and pared some of its gains at midday break, against the backdrop of firmer regional markets.
At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 12.07 points to 1,578.47. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,585.18.
Losers overtook gainers by 541 to 527, while 422 counters traded unchanged. Trading volume was 3.97 billion shares valued at RM2.64 billion.
The gainers included Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, Frontken Corp Bhd, Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Nestle (M) Bhd and Tasco Bhd.

Chemical Company of Malaysia Bhd (CCM), where Permodalan Nasional Bhd ceased to be a shareholder after disposing of 76.45 million shares in a share sale.
This came on the heels of an offer by Batu Kawan Bhd to buy all the shares in CCM it did not already own at RM3.10 per share. Subsequently, Batu Kawan emerged as the largest shareholder in CCM with a 59.73% stake, from 3.41% previously.
