Women in India making children’s clothes for H&M have spoken out about widespread sexual violence they claim to have faced at one of the company’s suppliers in India.
The allegations come just weeks after the body of Jeyasre Kathiravel, a 21-year-old Dalit garment worker, was found in a field close to her family home after she failed to return from her shift at the Natchi Apparels factory in Tamil Nadu.
Kathiravel’s supervisor has been charged with her murder. Her family and colleagues at the factory claim she was too afraid to report harassment they say she faced from her supervisor in the weeks before she died. ....

H&M has begun a probe into allegations of harassment at one of its supplier factories in India after a female worker was killed on her way home from work and a supervisor arrested in connection with the crime.
The Natchi Apparels factory based in Tamil Nadu is part of the Eastman Exports Global Clothing group, whose senior vice president of quality, CSR and sustainable textiles, S Alagesan, confirmed to just-style that 22-year-old K Jeyasre had worked for the company since 2018. Her body was found 70km away from the factory, and two men (including supervisor V Thangadurai) have been charged with her abduction and murder. ....

The family of a young garment worker at an H&M supplier factory in Tamil Nadu who was allegedly murdered by her supervisor said she had suffered months of sexual harassment and intimidation on the factory floor in the months before her death.
