Orange Beach Finance Director Ford Handley had good news for Mayor Tony Kennon and the City Council during the May 18 regular council meeting. After months of waiting, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state of Alabama have approved $6,681,233 to reimburse the city for debris removal after Hurricane Sally.
“We got some good news today from FEMA that they obligated $5,010,000 to the city. It is at the state now and they should approve it very quickly and we would hope by the end of June that we have $5 million in our account. The rest will continue to be a longer process, but we are getting there,” Handley said. ....

Rock Springs Accepts Over $7 Million in CARES Funding


ROCK SPRINGS The Rock Springs City Council met in a special meeting Thursday evening to accept more than $7.8 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) funding.
Due to time sensitivity involved in accepting the funding, the Council met at a special meeting to approve the funding for various resolutions.
The Council approved a reimbursement agreement between the Wyoming State Loan and Investment Board (SLIB) and Rock Springs for $7.4 million in CARES Act funds. This money will go to cover payroll expenditures where employees spent more than 51 percent of their time substantially dedicated to mitigating or responding to the COVID-19 public health emergency. ....
