Human Bean raises $54.5K for cancer relief – BizWest

The Human Bean Northern Colorado, a coffee retailer in the region, raised $54,533.06 in its annual Coffee for a Cure event in which all proceeds from the four Fridays in October were contributed to nonprofits in a position to provide help to breast cancer patients.
The coffee company split the proceeds evenly between the North Colorado Medical Foundation in Greeley and the UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation.
The 15-year Human Bean tradition, which is usually held on one date, was modified this year to accommodate COVID restrictions and was celebrated over four Fridays throughout October.
All 10 coffee locations donated 100% of sales on customized pink packs of free drinks and other swag, with additional contributions made by staff and customers. ....

UCHealth Family Medicine Center food pantry fills need for food support – BizWest

As the economic effects of COVID-19 continue, many people struggle to afford groceries. The UCHealth Family Medicine Center (FMC) food pantry, which partners with Food Bank for Larimer County, helps provide fresh, healthy food to those suffering from food insecurity.
The food pantry has been able to meet our population’s need for nutritious food through the generosity of our community. Individuals, corporations and foundations provide monetary and food donations.
In 2020, the FMC food pantry has served, on average, 367 unique families each month and distributed over 3,000 pounds of food every week.
“In September, we had our highest numbers to date,” said Laura Elliot, program coordinator. “We had 968 visits and served 1,093 individuals from 450 households. As COVID-19 continues to progress and we see more detrimental economic effects, we anticipate our numbers to continue to rise.” ....
