Col. Charlene Dalto promoted to brigadier general for Utah Army National Guard

SALT LAKE CITY The Utah Army National Guard has promoted Col. Charlene Dalto to the position of brigadier general. Dalto becomes the first woman in the history of the Utah Army National Guard to reach the rank of a brigadier general.
At the change-of-command ceremony Saturday at Camp Williams, Dalto assumed the role of commander of the Utah Army National Guard Land Component Command from Brig. Gen. Thomas C. Fisher.
Dalto is a registered nurse for Intermountain Healthcare. According to a statement, she has commanded the Utah Army National Guard s Medical Detachment since February 2018.
She has served in the military for more than 38 years, first, as an enlisted soldier who rose to the rank of master sergeant. She then served for 18 years as an officer in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp. ....

CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah â In a ceremony Saturday, Col. Charlene Dalto made history by being promoted to Brigadier General and assuming the role of commander of the Utah Army National Guard Land Component Command.
Dalto is the first female to be promoted to brigadier general in the Utah army National Guard.
In the Ceremony saturday, Utah Governor Spencer Cox offered his congratulations to Dalto.
Of course we do not promote officers based on their performance alone and Colonel Dalto has undoubtedly had an outstanding career, Cox said in a speech at the ceremony. She is being promoted today due to her demonstrated potential to continue the Utah Army National Guards tradition of excellence. ....

Park City Afghanistan war veteran, a suicide attack survivor, hopes Biden withdrawal is 'for the right reasons'

Adam Kelley, a 2004 Park City High School graduate who grew up in Park Meadows, served in Afghanistan in 2010 with the Utah Army National Guard, shown. He says he hopes the decision announced by President Biden that the last American troops in Afghanistan will be withdrawn by the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks is based on the conditions in Afghanistan rather than any political motivations.

Living in a combat zone, serving his country and attending college has been the life of Abe Wade, a communications studies major at Salt Lake Community College since November of 2020.
Wade, a sergeant in the U.S. Army, is currently serving overseas in Afghanistan. Although this is not his first deployment as an enlisted man of eight-and-a-half years, this is the first time he deployed to a combat zone and exchanged his personal time to invest in his educational goals of attending college online. ....
