Islamabad : With 11 points improvement, the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) ranked 90th among 100 non-US global think tanks, retaining its 1st position in Pakistan for the last many years, and with improvement of four points it ranked 11th among the South East Asia and the Pacific region, according to the 15th edition of University of Pennsylvania Global Go To Think Tank Index (GGTTI) released across the world.
The 2020 GGTTI is based on the ranking done for over 8500 think tanks (TT) registered with GGTTI from across the globe, selected through a rigorous criterion. The University of Pennsylvania under GGTTI initiative organised a global webinar on the eve of the global launch of the GGTTI 2020 report and invited representatives of 20 world-renowned think tanks including SDPI whose case studies were presented at the webinar on “Best Policy and Institutional Response to Covid-19 ....

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday directed to take all necessary steps to increase exports on priority basis.
Chairing the weekly review meeting of priority sectors in Islamabad on Thursday, he called for the formulation of a comprehensive action plan to increase the exports of valuable items at large level.

ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister Dr Hafeez A Pasha has said Pakistan has no option but to go back to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.
He was speaking at a plenary of 4-day 23rd Sustainable Development Conference (SDC) panel titled “Economic Growth, Social Protection, and the IMF Programme amid COVID-19”. He said Pakistan did not have a big number of COVID-19 cases compared with other developed and developing nations, but still it had seen significant reduction in the GDP growth.
Our independent estimate is that growth fell by -2.5% during fiscal year 2019-20 and will only remain 1% during the ongoing fiscal year. This is the largest decline since early 2000s. Almost 70% of the displaced workers are from the informal sector, which will bring implications for welfare, he added. ....
