NORTHAMPTON A 77-year-old Northampton man pleaded not guilty Friday to one count of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation in a case involving a two-vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Westhampton last October.
Thomas Hanley was arraigned virtually in Northampton District Court and is due back in court June 14 for a pretrial hearing, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office. Hanley was ordered not to operate a motor vehicle by Judge Laurie MacLeod while the case remains open.
Prosecutors allege that on Oct. 22 at approximately 3:25 pm, Hanley, who was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, crossed over the double-yellow line on Route 66 in Westhampton without signaling, directly into the path of an oncoming Harley-Davidson motorcycle being operated by David Foster, 57, of Huntington, according to the DA ....

NORTHAMPTON – A Holyoke man pled guilty Thursday to badly mistreating hundreds of roosters, that he had trained for illegal cockfighting, which were found during a raid 2018 raid of a small farm in the Florence section of the city.
Miguel Rodriguez, 59, was sentenced to serve two years of probation, the first six months of which will be in home confinement and while wearing a GPS monitoring device, after admitting in Northampton District Court to felony charges of animal cruelty and owning, possessing and training animals for fighting, said Mary Carey, spokeswoman for Northwestern District Attorney David E. NORTHAMPTON A 23-year-old Northampton woman who allegedly threw a bloody tampon into a group of President Donald Trump supporters during an October rally in the city is being ordered to complete community service, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.
Brooke A. Wallis agreed to do 30 hours of community service as part of being placed on pretrial probation for four months on a charge of disorderly conduct, said Mary Carey, spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.
The disposition of the case came in a Zoom hearing before Northampton District Court Judge Maureen Walsh on Wednesday. ....
