The state Commissioner of Police, Phillip Aliyu Ogbadu, disclosed this in a statement signed by the command’s spokesman, SP Kongtons Bello, and made available to journalists in Benin yesterday. The commissioner also disclosed that traffic personnel have been deployed across the state to ensure free flow of traffic especially in Benin City. According to him, the command has put in place adequate security measures in ensuring the security of lives and property of our Muslims and the general public during and after the celebration. Ogbadu said the command will collaborate with other sister security agencies to ensure that the celebration is hitch-free. ....
Punch Newspapers Sections Umar Muhammed Published 3 April 2021 No fewer than three persons have been apprehended by the police in Nasarawa State in connection with the alleged killing of a 44-year-old man, Mr. Vitalis Pevyi, in Assakior, Lafia Local Government Area of the state. The command stated that the suspects were arrested following indiscriminate shootings by yet-to-be-identified gunmen during which Pevyi was reportedly killed. Confirming the incident to Saturday PUNCH, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Ranham Nansel, said the relatives of the late Pevyi, reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest of the three suspects. ....

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Bola Longe, who was in the entourage of the state governor, Mr Abdullahi Sule, revealed this shortly after the governor inspected the level of damage caused by the angry students on Friday. He said, “The command has so far apprehended 27 students in connection with the protest. Only those found to have been actively engaged in the violent protest will be sanctioned.” ....

Officials of the states disclosed these figures to The PUNNCH in separate interviews just as one of our correspondents gathered that between 150,000 and 160,000 doses would be given to Katsina State. Recall that the Federal Government on Tuesday last week received 3.94 million doses of the vaccine from COVAX facility, an initiative co-led by the Vaccine Alliance, GAVI and the World Health Organisation. On Monday, 50,000 doses of the vaccine were given to Ogun State by the Federal Government. ....
