JK Moving Founder and CEO Chuck Kuhn has purchased the Middleburg Academy property and plans to place it in conservation easement to restrict development, averting a planned auction.
According to an April 29 statement from JK Moving, Kuhn on April 28 finalized the purchase of the property, which includes 90 acres of land, two primary academic buildings totaling nearly 84,000 square feet and four detached residential dwellings including a 1920s manor house totaling 7,400 square feet. The school portion of the property will reopen as a school, with final negotiations in process for the buildings to be leased to a private school operator. ....

New Goose Creek Development Applications Spark Public Concerns
A proposal to build apartments and townhomes on the banks of Goose Creek has alarmed conservationists and nature lovers.
Goose Creek Overlook is the name given to a proposal to build 251 units including 136 townhouses, 40 two-over-two condos, and 40 price-controlled apartments on 55 mostly untouched acres on the east bank of the Goose Creek, on both sides of Sycolin Road and across the creek from the True North data center project. It is also only one of three new development projects in the immediate area.
Supervisor Tony R. Buffington (R-Blue Ridge), who voted against the data center project, predicted at the time “it’ll set a bad precedent for building data centers in the Transition Policy Area west of the Greenway.” ....

Chuck Kuhn, founder and CEO of JK Moving Services, and his wife Stacy Kuhn, have come to terms on a purchase of White’s Ferry in Leesburg, Virginia, helping protect an important Potomac River crossing with a long history. Established in 1786, the Ferry ceased operation in December 2020. Kuhn will be working with Peter Brown, the majority owner of Rockland Farm, in an effort to get the ferry reopened to the nearly 800 daily users. ....
