The SRTF completes two interventions in northeast Syria Format Ar-Raqqa & Deir Ez-Zor – Sunday, July 4, 2021, - The SRTF is pleased to announce the successful completion of two interventions in Northeast Syria (NES). The first is the health intervention, “Extension of Medical Services for Rural Communities in Ar-Raqqa Governorate - Phase III”, where seven Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs) in seven rural communities in Ar-Raqqa Governorate received operational support for six months . The PHCs were established by the SRTF under previous phases and the support included salaries for medical and support staff, medicines, and other operational expenditures. As a result of this intervention, more than 70 thousand patients received non-surgical medical services and medicines; of these patients, around 4,740 benefitted from laboratory services, more than 590 patients benefited from ambulances provided by SRTF, over 8,400 children were screened for malnutrition, also more than 360

UNITED KINGDOM DEFENCE ATTACHÉ VISITS THE KENYA NAVY The United Kingdom Defense Attaché in Kenya, Brigadier Ronnie Westerman, paid a courtesy call to the Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Jimson Mutai, at the Kenya Navy Headquarters in Mtongwe on Tuesday, 11 May 2021. During the meeting, the two leaders held talks geared towards fostering bilateral and military relationships as well as promoting working relations between the two nations, in efforts to cope with the evolving maritime security challenges. The talks also explored future areas of collaboration between the two governments particularly in military training and operations aimed at strengthening strategic security relationship.

Japan contributes US$4.22m to help stabilize communities in Sudan Format KHARTOUM: In line with the priorities of Sudan’s Transitional Government and the mandate of the UN Integrated Transitional Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), the Government of Japan has committed an additional $4.22m towards UNDP’s peace, stability, and economic recovery efforts, which will assist 45,000 vulnerable people across seven states. Japanese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Takashi Hattori outlined the new priorities, which will assist 15 of Sudan’s most at-risk localities in Blue Nile, White Nile, South Kordofan, West Kordofan, North Kordofan, Sennar and Khartoum State. “It is imperative not only to fulfil the urgent needs of these people, but also provide underlying foundations to increase the sustainability of their lives by enhancing productivity and skills”, said the Ambassador of Japan.
