The Swiss government-owned defence contractor RUAG International says it has found no evidence of a second major hack but does admit uncovering “serious security flaws” in its IT system. In an interview with the Neue Zürcher Zeitung newspaper, RUAG CEO André Wall cast doubt over the veracity of media claims that hackers recently infiltrated the company for a second time. “We have no indication of a hack like the one presented by Rundschau [the Swiss public television SRF programme that brought the claims]. We have no indication that data was accessed or stolen,” Wall said on Friday. He added that Rundschau had declined to make all of its evidence available to RUAG’s investigation. He speculates that the Rundschau reporters may have been duped by malicious actors. This, he suggests, may be motivated by RUAG’s decision to sell off parts of its business, including its munitions-making division. “Hackers usually have a motivation. They want to extort money or change somethi ....
By Ryan Woo BEIJING (Reuters) -Remnants of China s biggest rocket landed in the Indian Ocean on Sunday, with most of its components destroyed upon re-entry into the atmosphere, ending days of speculation over where the debris would hit but drawing U.S. criticism over lack of transparency. The coordinates given by Chinese state media, citing the China Manned Space Engineering Office, put the point of impact in the ocean, west of the Maldives archipelago. Debris from the Long March 5B has had some people looking warily skyward since it blasted off from China s Hainan island on April 29, but the China Manned Space Engineering Office said most of the debris was burnt up in the atmosphere. State media reported parts of the rocket re-entered the atmosphere at 10:24 a.m. Beijing time (0224 GMT) and landed at a location with the coordinates of longitude 72.47 degrees east and latitude 2.65 degrees north. The U.S. Space command confirmed the re-entry of the rocket over the Arabian Peninsula, bu ....
By Anthony Esposito and Noe Torres MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -Twenty people were killed, including children, and 49 were hospitalised when a railway overpass collapsed onto a busy road in Mexico City on Monday night. Rescue efforts for potential survivors were paused shortly after the accident, authorities said, because of the risk that more of the Metro overpass and train cars could slam down onto the road. A video on local channel Milenio TV showed the structure plummeting onto a stream of cars near Olivos station in the southeast of the city at around 10.30 p.m. local time, sending up clouds of dust and rubble. Other images showed at least two train carriages precariously hanging from the damaged overpass as emergency fire and medical crews initially used ladders to access the carriages. However, Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said the rescue had been suspended because the train is very weak . A crane transported to the site was working to stabilise the train carriages so rescuers ....
