Canadian, Japanese industry groups enhance cooperation : Corporate

The Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) and the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum (JAIF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen their collaboration in advancing nuclear energy s development, application and deployment to meet climate change goals. The MoU was signed yesterday by CNA President and CEO John Gorman and JAIF President Shiro Arai.

Through the MoU, the two organisations will support, coordinate, and champion the continued safe and reliable use of nuclear power for clean energy generation. They will encourage their respective governments and international agencies to include nuclear as a clean energy technology to meet climate change objectives and net-zero emissions plans by 2050 through events such as COP, Clean Energy Ministerial and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) initiatives. The 20th anniversary of World Nuclear Association provides us with a golden opportunity to reflect on the years that have passed, and to look ahead to the future. On 15 May 2001, the then Uranium Institute - a trade association dedicated to the nuclear fuel cycle - was transformed into World Nuclear Association.
With this transformation, the Association embraced all sectors of the nuclear industry, ranging from uranium mining and utilities to decommissioning, reactor vendors and the diverse supply chain. The Association had found a new, broader mission: building a positive disposition towards nuclear energy around the world. The new mission and the rebranding that took place in 2015 further reinforced the shift towards advocacy, whilst holding true to its commitments of creating forums for the industry to share leading practice and of providing world-class information on all things nuclear. In Memoriam Greg Kaser
It is with sadness that we bring news of the passing of Greg Kaser, who died on 12 January 2021, following a short illness after contracting COVID-19. He was 65. 
 
Greg was a senior project manager for World Nuclear Association with responsibility for supply chain and security issues. In his nearly 10 years with the Association he oversaw four editions of its 
World Nuclear Supply Chain report, as well as publications on export controls, counterfeit, fraudulent and suspect items, as well as new build lesson-learning. With the Security Working Group, he had recently issued a series of six briefings for members on key aspects of nuclear security. Greg also managed the Economics Working Group for six years. ....
