Why an NHRA Drag Strip is 1,000 Feet Top Fuel and Funny Car, the two nitromethane-fueled classes, scaled back to 1,000 feet in mid-2008, following a tragic death. Many classes in NHRA drag racing actually, all but the Top Fuel and Funny Car classes still compete on a quarter-mile course. DSR announced late Thursday that veteran tuners John Medlen and Dean Guido Antonelli will team to call the shots for Ron Capps Funny Car in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series this season. 4-Time NHRA Champion Crew Chief Rahn Tobler Retiring from Don Schumacher Racing The 66-year-old Tobler has captained Ron Capps NAPA Auto Parts SRT Hellcat Funny Car team since 2012. John Shanks/Auto Imagery Rahn Tobler, 66, has won 70 national NHRA events and four championships in a career that dates back to 1971. Tobler won a pair of Top Fuel titles with driver Shirley Muldowney and Funny Car crowns with both Cruz Pedregon and Ron Capps. Tobler and Capps have been together at Don Schumacher Racing since 2012. NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Cancels Arizona Nationals Open date expected to be filled by event venue not on original schedule. RON LEWIS One of just eight venues to host an NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series event will not be able to host the NHRA in 2021. The NHRA and Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park announced on Friday that the he 2021 NHRA Arizona Nationals, originally scheduled for April 23-25, has been cancelled, leaving an opening on the 2021 schedule. That opening could go to Tulsa, Okla., as Tulsa Raceway Park (formerly Southwest Raceway) was rumored to be in the running for a 2021 race earlier this winter. ....
