UPDATE: At its meeting on Friday, the Adirondack Park Agency board approved an apartment complex in Lake Placid and a solar park in Ticonderoga. 
ORIGINAL REPORT: The Adirondack Park Agency will vote on two major projects at its meeting on Friday. The first is an apartment complex in Lake Placid about a mile west of downtown, on the site of the old W. Alton Jones Cell Science Center, built in the 1970s.
The complex would include 355 housing units, including some apartments and condominiums. spread over 22 new buildings on the 35-acre site. The project includes a clubhouse, greenhouse, pool, recreation facilities, maintenance building, and on-site parking, including a parking garage for residents. ....

New York state spent about $80 million to overhaul the Olympic Sports Complex at Mount Van Hoevenberg over the last two years, adding this three-story lodge, seen March 14, as well as the Cliffside Coaster ride, new snowmaking, new trails, a new biathlon shooting range, a new Nordic ski staium and much more.

LAKE PLACID New York’s new budget includes $105 million in new capital funding for the state Olympic Regional Development Authority.
The money in the 2021-22 budget is about $39.5 million less than what the state approved last year. The funding will again go toward improvements to sports venues ORDA manages in the Adirondacks and Catskills parks ahead of the 2023 World University Games in Lake Placid. ....

While colleges around the country are dropping varsity sports programs, Paul Smith’s College has been on a mission for over a year to bring more competitive sports to its 14,000-acre campus in the Adirondacks. After officially announcing the addition of Nordic skiing, biathlon, hockey, trap shooting and esports, comes the latest addition to campus in the form of alpine skiing in 2021-2022, giving the school a total of 27 varsity sports programs.
Actually, alpine skiing is making more of a return to Paul Smith’s College after having a dominant program in the 1980s and 1990s that saw the school, a two-year institution at the time, capture the national junior college championship in 1991. The College of the Adirondacks’ skiing legacy dates back to 1952 when it hosted the United States Olympic trials prior to the Winter Games in Oslo. The trials occurred on campus at its Jenkins Mountain ski ....
