The under 30s are to be offered an alternative to the AstraZeneca vaccine, it was announced yesterday, after the UK s medicines regulator found that the vaccine was linked to blood clots in young people.
The benefits of the AstraZeneca vaccine continue to outweigh any risks for most people, the UK medicines watchdog said, as European regulators ruled that unusual blood clots were very rare side effects of the jab. Ministers to book 28,000 quarantine hotel rooms
The race is on to reserve more than 28,000 hotel rooms across Britain by 5pm today. As the Government attempts to launch its red list quarantine scheme, documents seen by us reveal ministers have asked hotel bosses to be ready to accommodate 1,425 passengers a day by Feb 15. Returning travellers will be quarantined in rooms for 11 nights at a cost of up to £800 a person, with security guards on all floors and guests expected to clean their own rooms.
