English Department Leads Global Learning Forum Discussion

On Monday, February 22nd, the WKU English Department presented Global Learning through Global Literature in collaboration with the Global Learning Forum hosted by WKU’s Office of Study Abroad and International Learning. Led by Dr. Ted Hovet, two current undergraduate English students and a graduate assistant shared presentations focused on comparing and contrasting western culture with the cultures found in global literature. 
Dr. Hovet explained, “The goal of this forum [was] to put literary works into conversation with one another to see how they may increase global learning and global understanding.” The hope for Dr. Hovet was that the presentations and audience’s questions would uncover “how we can more intentionally bring global learning through literature in curricular and extracurricular opportunities at WKU.” ....

Global Learning Forum adds 'Around the World in Quarantine Days' podcast

Global Learning & International Affairs (GLIA) is excited to share a recent addition to the Global Learning Forum:
Around the World in Quarantine Days podcast series.
WKU Honors students in a World Regional Geography course were inspired to host a podcast series of interviews with international travelers from the WKU community. These students wanted to bring faraway places of the world to campus.  The regions included are Oceania, North Africa, Southwest Asia, East Asia, Russia, Sub-Saharan Africa, South America and Europe. The podcast recordings can be found at https://www.wku.edu/international/glf/geo-podcast.php. Two podcasts have been released to date with five more to be released this semester.   ....

2021 Virtual Study Abroad Fair Feb. 1-5

WKU Global Learning & International Affairs is excited to co-sponsor a Kentucky-wide 2021 Virtual Study Abroad Fair during the week of Feb. 1-5.
While it still seems impossible to travel, planning a study abroad program can never begin too early. The Virtual Study Abroad Fair will allow students to learn about several programs that will take them far beyond The Hill programs with varying lengths, locations, modalities and fields of study inside and outside the U.S. By tuning in for specialized sessions featuring WKU study abroad partners and WKU’s support services, students can scope out options and resources, as well as register for scholarships and prizes. ....
