Breaking ground for Y-12 Fire Station; Emergency Operations Center underway

The National Nuclear Security Administration and Consolidated Nuclear Security LLC representatives held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday to celebrate the start of construction on a new fire station at the Y-12 National Security Complex, along with the already-underway construction of an emergency operations center.
The new fire station will replace one built in 1947, and the new emergency operations center replaces a World War II-era building.
These operations help keep the complex and its workers safe from potential disasters, a news release stated.
The Y-12 Fire Department provides fire protection services for Y-12 and mutual aid support to Oak Ridge National Laboratory and local communities.
