Rachel Skinner is the 156th President of ICE and is an Executive Director (Transport) at WSP. She is a Patron of Women in Transport (a not-for-profit) having been one of its founding board members since 2005. She is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a chartered engineer and a chartered transport planner. Rachel chairs the Carbon stream of the Infrastructure Client Group (ICG) and was recently invited to join the external expert panel established to support the UK Department for Transport’s Acceleration Unit that is focused on a faster, better and greener recovery beyond COVID-19. New report highlights willingness of infrastructure industry to digitally transform – CIE

The findings of the Infrastructure Client Group (ICG) Digital Benchmarking Report 2020, which provides a snapshot of digital maturity from members of the ICG’s Digital Transformation Task Group (DTTG), show that digital maturity increased by around 20% relative to last year driven particularly by improvements in digital transformation and asset management.
The report, produced by Mott MacDonald for the ICG surveyed leading asset owners and operators from the transport, energy, defence and water sectors representing more than 40% of the national infrastructure and construction pipeline. It showed that those with a clear digital strategy that had already embraced the need for transformation were much better positioned to ride out the storm and capitalise on the new digital-first normal. ....

1 February 2021: As part of a new series on infrastructure and the economy, ICAEW Insights speak to Dr Jennifer Schooling OBE, Director of the Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction, to join the dots between infrastructure, the economy, the planet, technology and communities.
The Cambridge Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) was established 10 years ago by two Cambridge University professors. “Professor Robert Mair and Professor Kenichi Soga are civil engineers. They recognised that infrastructure, and construction in general, were not picking up on the data revolution. CSIC was set up to transform infrastructure and construction through smarter information, and help the sector grasp the opportunities data brings and capitalise on them,” says Schooling, who was appointed Director of CSIC in 2013. ....
