Accessibility upgrades and further work can be expected within Kenora’s Norman Park.
The City of Kenora says an agreement was reached with the provincial government to provide $60,000 under the Inclusive Community Grants Program.
The funds will enhance accessibility upgrades that have already taken place, including adding a paved path from the washroom area to the playground, and towards the transition ramp that will be installed with guardrails near the beach.
The area’s existing retaining wall and stairs will also be repaired, and a table and contour benches are expected to be installed. ....

The Region of Durham is applauding the province’s recent funding announcement that will help improve the quality of life for seniors and people living with disabilities.
The province recently announced funding of up to $60,000 for an Inclusive Community Grant for the Durham Enhanced Technology and Virtual Learning Series.
Through a proposed two-part initiative – involving virtual learning and increased access to public transit – the region and its local community partners are aiming to “improve access to safe, affordable transportation for seniors and those with disabilities, reduce social isolation, and maintain the dignity of older adults and people with disabilities, through enhanced virtual programming.” ....

To help older individuals, as well as keep them mobile and engaged in the community, the province is providing a grant to Chatham’s Active Lifestyle Centre.
The Inclusive Community Grant is geared to municipal partners, Indigenous groups and community organizations.

The Ontario government is providing the City of North Bay with $17,500 for bench dedications, a program the province says will give 9,000 older people and those with disabilities more places to rest.
A statement provided by Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli’s office Wednesday says the funding is being provided through the Inclusive Community Grants Program.
