COVID-19 Hospitalizations Rate Increases in L.A. County

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) is reporting a significant increase in the number of people hospitalized each day for COVID-19 illness. There are 528 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized; last Monday, there were 372 people hospitalized and on June 15, there were 218 people hospitalized. Unfortunately, because cases increased 700% since June 15, we are now beginning to see corresponding increases in hospitalizations.
Test positivity increased 10-fold from the 0.4% on June 15, to today’s test positivity rate of 4.1%.
Due to the significant increased circulation of the more infectious Delta variant, the intermingling of unmasked individuals where vaccination status is unknown, and the risks to the almost 4 million people in L.A. County who have not been or are not eligible to be vaccinated, including 1.3 million children un ....

SCV News | Monday COVID-19 Roundup: Public Health Reports Hospitalization Rates Increased in LA County; 28,956 Total Cases in SCV

Public Health reported a significant increase in the number of people hospitalized each day for COVID-19 illness.
There are 528 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized; last Monday, there were 372 people hospitalized and on June 15, there were 218 people hospitalized.
Unfortunately, because cases have increased 700% since June 15, the County is now beginning to see corresponding increases in hospitalizations.
Test positivity increased 10-fold from 0.4% on June 15, to today’s test positivity rate of 4.1%.
Of the two new deaths reported today, one person that passed away was over the age of 80 and one person who passed was between the ages of 65 and 79.
The number of cases and deaths likely reflect reporting delays over the weekend. To date, Public Health identified 1,269,090 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 24,585 deaths. ....

SCV News | Friday COVID-19 Roundup: Masking Indoors Becomes Effective Saturday Night; 28,760 Total SCV Cases

Public Health said the county continues to see alarming trends of increased community spread.
As of July 9, 2021, the 7-day daily average case rate is 8.2 per 100,000, up from 7.1, indicating sustained and increased community transmission. This number will continue to increase with each day that the number of cases reported is higher than the previous day.
Cases are highest and rising the fastest in adults age 18 to 49 years old. Of the new cases reported by Public Health today, 71% are among adults 18 to 49 years old.
There are 452 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized; a doubling from the 216 hospitalizations reported a month ago.
Today’s test positivity rate is 3.8%. In early June, test positivity was near 0.4%. ....

SCV News | Thursday COVID-19 Roundup: L.A. County Transmission Increases at Alarming Rate; SCV Cases Total 28,705

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Thursday three new deaths and 1,537 new cases of COVID-19, with 28,705 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
As Los Angeles County sees more than a seven-times increase in new cases since the June 15 reopening, the Los Angeles County Health Officer Order will be modified to require masking for everyone while indoors, regardless of vaccination status.
To date, Public Health identified 1,262,578 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 24,566 deaths. Of the three new deaths reported Thursday, one person that passed away was over the age of 80, and two people who passed were between the ages of 50 and 64. Testing results are available for more than 7,142,000 individuals with 16% of people testing positive. There are 406 people with COVID-19 currently hospitalized and 22% of these people are in the ICU. ....

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed Wednesday nine new deaths and 1,315 new cases of COVID-19, with 28,658 total cases in the Santa Clarita Valley.
To date, Public Health identified 1,261,068 positive cases of COVID-19 across all areas of L.A. County and a total of 24,563 deaths. This is the sixth consecutive day where more than 1,000 new cases have been reported. Of the nine new deaths reported today, three people that passed away were over the age of 80, two people who passed were between the ages of 65 and 79, one person who passed was between the ages of 50 and 64, and three people who passed were between the ages of 30 and 49. ....
