Pella City Council to Discuss 2021 Summer Downtown Parking

The Pella City Council will discuss parking in the Central Business District following regular business at their meeting Tuesday.
Construction for upgrades in the Oost Poort Alley will begin on May 10th, which includes closure of 80 parking spaces at the corner of East 1st and Washington Street for the majority of the summer and fall.
Council will discuss alternatives, which includes the parking lot directly north of Second Christian Reformed Church, and the rest of the lot will be fully acquired by the City of Pella this summer, providing 30 additional spaces. City of Pella Moving Ahead with Two Key Infrastructure Projects

Two key infrastructure projects in the upcoming construction season received approval from the Pella City Council at their most recent meeting.
City Administrator Mike Nardini says contracts were agreed to for reconstruction of the Oost Poort Alley in the Central Business District and conversion of 218th Avenue near the Shady Brook Development from gravel to a paved city street.
He says council approved a contract with TK Concrete for $940,854 to reconstruct full sanitary sewer, storm sewer, underground stormwater, and paving improvements as well as downtown parking updates, and repaving with brick near the end of the Oost Poort project, and a contract with Wicks Construction of Decorah for $1,282,721 for complete conversion of gravel to hard surface, with additional upgrades from Idaho Drive to Shady Brook. ....

The Pella City Council held two public hearings for two key infrastructure projects on the construction season calendar at their meeting Tuesday evening.
Two resolutions were on the agenda and approved contracts for Oost Poort Alley infrastructure upgrades and the 218th Avenue and Neil Drive Reconstruction project.

Pella City Council Reviewing Infrastructure, New Market Hearings

The Pella City Council is holding two public hearings for two key infrastructure projects on the construction season calendar at their meeting this evening.
Two resolutions are on the agenda to approve contracts for Oost Poort Alley infrastructure upgrades and the 218th Avenue and Neil Drive Reconstruction project.
Council will consider bids for full sanctuary sewer, storm sewer, underground stormwater, and paving improvements as well as downtown parking updates, for an estimated $900,000, as well as those for the complete conversion of gravel to hard surface for the road near the Shady Brook development, projected to cost $1.52 million.
Council will also consider the first reading of an ordinance changing 503 Main Street to a Planned Unit Development, with base zoning for Commercial Mixed Use, to allow construction of the “Pella Market,” a business similar to Gateway Market in Des Moines. The Store would offer fresh food and groceries, as well as a cafe for breakf ....
