“a remarkable technological addition to the Egyptian Navy and shall safeguard the borders, shipping routes, and the vast natural resources in both the Mediterranean and the Red Seas, along with supporting the land forces in their offensive or defensive operations,” the Egyptian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The crew was prepared and qualified through a simultaneous training program implemented in two phases in Egypt and Italy. ....

Second ex-Italian FREMM frigate delivered to Egypt

The Egyptian Navy s newest FREMM frigate ENS Bernees.
The Egyptian Navy has received the second FREMM frigate, ENS Bernees, from Italy. The vessel arrived in Alexandria on 14 April.
ENS Bernees was formerly the Emilio Bianchi before being acquired by the Egyptian Navy. The first vessel, ENS Al Galala (ex Spartaco Schergat), arrived in Alexandria on 31 December.
The Egyptian Ministry of Defence said the ENS Bernees’s reception ceremony was attended by a number of former Egyptian Navy leaders, the Italian Military Attachment in Cairo, and a number of students of military colleges and Alexandria University. ....

The second of the two Italian-built FREMM frigates bought by Egypt arrived at the naval base in Alexandria on 14 April.

The Egyptian Ministry of Defence (MoD) released a video showing ENS
Bernees (1003) being escorted into the Ras-al-Tin Naval Base by most of the Egyptian fleet. The first of the two, ENS
Al-Galala (1002), arrived in Alexandria in December 2020.
Both frigates were built for the Italian Navy but sold to Egypt before they were delivered in a deal that the Italian government has tried to keep quiet. The sale has been controversial due to Egypt’s human rights record and it deprives the Italian Navy of two frigates. ....

An MBDA SCALP cruise missile appeared for the first time in official Egyptian military media when one was seen in a 2 February video of a joint exercise with the French Air Force.

The SCALP was partially seen in both a photograph and a video released by the Ministry of Defence showing the exercise. It was displayed inside a hangar with other weapons arranged around a Rafale fitted with a Talios targeting system. ....
