PETALING JAYA: The Terengganu Mentri Besar and his fellow administrators in the 11-member state executive council will be forgoing a month of their salary and donating it to the Palestinians.
“God willing, my fellow state exco members and I have decided to take a one-month pay cut in aid of the Palestinian people who are currently fighting against the Jewish Zionists, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar
(pic) in a Facebook post on Friday (May 14).
“I call on all to join us by showing solidarity within our own means, ” he added.
He accompanied the post with a news article from TV Darul Iman, the state video channel, saying that the aid will be channelled to the #Aid4Palestine fund. ....

Co Kerry fintech Taxamo, which is led by John McCarthy, a son of the Fexco founder Brian McCarthy, has been acquired in a $200 million (€165.5 million) deal.
Vertex, a tax compliance software and services company headquartered in Pennsylvania, has agreed to buy the fintech in an all-cash transaction.

The Executive Committee (ExCo) of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) met online yesterday for the third time of 2021, with discussions centring on the postponement of the 50th General Assembly, which will now take place on 10-11 June 2021 in Athens, Greece.
Having closely monitored the COVID-19 situation over the last weeks, the decision to postpone was made to provide delegates with the option to travel to the Greek capital for this important occasion.
The 50th General Assembly, originally scheduled for 16-17 April, is an important one for the EOC and will see the election of a President and Executive Committee among other statutory measures. The full list of positions and candidates can be seen here. ....

KARACHI: Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) secretary Khalid Mehmood on Saturday said that every effort would be made to organise the 34th National Games in Balochistan in a time-frame that could benefit the countryâs sports.
âI donât think the Games will be held this year as Covid situation is also not good. And yesterday restrictions were also imposed on sports in Punjab. As we are going to host 14th South Asian Games in 2023 so effort will be made to host the National Games in a more suitable time-frame which could be of immense utility for our sports,â Khalid said. ....
