ERL combines KLIA Ekspres, Transit service for CMCO

With the conditional movement control order (CMCO) back in place for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor for 14 days starting today, Express Rail Link (ERL) will continue to operate the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit as a combined service with reduced frequency from this Saturday (Oct 17) to Nov 1.
Note that travellers who are flying through KLIA and KLIA2 during the CMCO period are required to obtain permission to travel interstate from a police station prior to the flight. Those travelling on business or work purposes to/from the airports need to show a staff pass and a confirmation letter from their employer if requested by the police. ....

Panel formed to probe LRT collision


PETALING JAYA: A nine-member committee has been formed to investigate the head-on collision between two LRT trains in Kuala Lumpur.
The committee will be chaired by Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Isham Ishak, and assisted by deputy secretary general for policy Normah Osman (deputy chairman), land division secretary Wan Mohd Asraf Wan Salleh, legal adviser Azlin Sabtu and Air Accident Investigation Bureau chief inspector Brig-Jen Izani Ismail.
Also sitting in are Yuslizar Daud, former head of rail at the then Land Public Transport Commission, Anthony Arokianathan, maintenance support signalling engineer for Express Rail Link, Assoc Prof Dr Nor Aziati Abdul Hamid from the Industry Centre of Excellence for Railway at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, and Prof Dr Wong Shaw Voon from Universiti Putra Malaysia’s Engineering Faculty. ....

HSR project: Not the end of the line

THE Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) bilateral agreement was officially terminated after the top leaders of Malaysia and Singapore agreed to let the deal lapse on New Year’s Eve, but this mega project may not be dead and forgotten.
In fact, this economically significant rail project may be revived once Malaysia sorts out its economic predicament brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and political chaos.

Study to boost the value of future rail network


MALAYSIA will embark on a detailed study this year to see how it can maximise economic and social returns should a decision be made to proceed with the building of a high speed rail (HSR) network in the country.
According to MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR), the special purpose company to spearhead the project on the Malaysian side, the study is expected to take up to six months.
If Malaysia decides to proceed with building a HSR network, it is possible to have as many as four new domestic HSR services, said MyHSR Corp chief executive Datuk Mohd Nur Ismal Kamal at a recent press briefing, following the lapse of a bilateral agreement signed with Singapore on Dec 13,2016 to have a cross border HSR service from Bandar Malaysia to Jurong East, Singapore. ....
