Edo govt begins enforcement of gaming law, serves notices to Premier Lotto, others

BENIN CITY – The Edo Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) has commenced the enforcement of the Edo State Gaming Law of 2020 with the engagement of key actors in the sector to ensure full compliance with the law in the state.
The Executive Chairman of EIRS, Igbinidu Inneh, in a chat with journalists in Benin City, said it was imperative for the state to enforce the law so as to protect the participating public, regulate gaming operators and ensure that their agents operate within the ambits of the law.
“The service has served notices to Premier Lottos and operators of online gaming on the need to properly engage in their businesses within the provisions of the law and global best practices,” he stated. ....

Edo revenue board to regulate online betting, street lottery, lotto, other gaming businesses

The Edo Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) the state’s revenue board, has concluded arrangements to regulate the street lottery business and other online betting, lotto and other gaming businesses in the state.
EIRS, according to its Executive Chairman, Igbinidu Inneh, disclosed that the lottery regulation is in line with the implementation of the Edo State Gaming Law 2020.
Inneh, who disclosed this, in a chat with journalists, said that the service had reorganised its operations leveraging technology to engage with the operators of sports betting, lotto and lottery businesses in the state.
According to him, the new law empowers the service to issue licenses to operators and their agents, noting that all operators had been mandated to obtain relevant licenses and register their agents. ....
