Staff writer WEIRTON Maintenance of the city’s recreational areas was at the forefront of last week’s meeting of the Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation, as the temperatures rise and more activities will be moving outdoors. The board met Thursday at the Millsop Community Center, discussing repairs needed for the tennis and basketball courts at Starvaggi Memorial Park. Board Chair Ed Bowman noted an increasing number of “pock marks” on the courts. Parks Executive Director explained the marks were from pieces of gravel coming up through the surface of the courts; and issue he said needs to be addressed. ....
