Warrants issued by police for suspect of Southgate LRT station assault

EDMONTON
Police have issued several warrants in Alberta and the Northwest Territories for the arrest of a man they believe to be connected to an assault at the Southgate LRT transit station in late May.
Edmonton police issued warrants for the arrest of 36-year-old Brent Cardinal of Hay River, N.W.T. Thursday evening for aggravated assault, robbery, and various breaches of conditions.
At approximately May 26 at 2:30 a.m., police say Cardinal and two other men were evicted for loitering by Edmonton Transit System peace officers.
The group was standing outside the locked west entrance of the LRT station when they gestured for a male to open the door for them. ....

City hall has done it again. Since they cannot manage or improve the system, what they have done is eliminate dozens of bus routes.
Most affected are inner-city residents who have relied on public transportation to commute. Case in point is Route 3 which has operated from Jasper Place to Cromdale for the past 60-plus years. It was mostly used by low-income and seniors going downtown or to appointments.

Another deterrent was cost $3.50 one-way. Some cities in Canada have adopted mini-buses with less frequent runs for routes that are not used enough. Why did our city not use that option? Instead of 15-minute or 30-minute intervals, why was a 60-minute interval not tried? The new system is buffoonery at best call for a pickup in maybe half an hour to take you to a stop for another bus fo ....

Edmonton’s revamped bus system is receiving mixed reviews during the first weekday commute, with some people late to work and others dropped off in places they didn’t expect.
Dozens of buses adorning their new 500 bus routes to mark their service in the city’s southeast were quickly pulling in and out of the Mill Woods Transit Centre Monday morning. Edmonton Transit Services (ETS) workers were helping direct people to their new buses at an info centre topped with individual route information as well as larger pamphlets detailing the citywide changes.

Edmonton transit users are part of a six-month pilot project assessing a new and surprisingly simple method of killing dangerous bacteria on touch surfaces door push plates made of compressed salt.
The pilot project, conducted by Edmonton biotechnology startup Outbreaker Solutions, involves compressing sodium chloride (the chemical name for salt) into moulds to form hard, smooth, ceramic-like materials. This compressed sodium chloride (CSC) can be used on high-touch surfaces such as door handles, handrails, hospital beds, bus railings and taps. In the transit test project, CSC push plates will be installed outside doors in 10 LRT stations, with the first already mounted by the doors inside the Bay/Enterprise Square station in downtown Edmonton. ....
