In response to the Labor Party announcing its federal candidate for Capricornia on Saturday, incumbent MP Michelle Landry pledged to continue to fight for her electorate.
“I am proud to stand on my record as the Federal Member for Capricornia,” she said.
“I have brought billions of dollars in major projects, infrastructure, investment, jobs and prosperity to the people of Capricornia.

Livingstone releases draft budget for consultation

No new borrowings, rate freezes or reductions, a new water charging scheme and millions of dollars expenditure on infrastructure are all proposed in the Livingstone Shire Council s draft budget for the next financial year.
Community consultation is now opened for the council s 2021/2022 budget and a new innovative online tool, which was trialled last year, will be available again for people to create and submit their own version of the budget for the council s consideration.
In this draft budget, total expenditure for 2021/2022 is at $143.9 million, with $48.4 million going towards community and economic infrastructure.
This draft budget shows $1,014,135,000 worth of net community assets, up from $976,907,000 from the previous financial year. ....

Livingstone mayor reacts to federal budget

Crucial pool upgrade funding and a further commitment to the Building Better Regions program in the federal budget have been welcomed by Livingstone Shire Mayor Andy Ireland.
While the council had no formal “wishlist” of projects they wanted to see, Cr Ireland was happy to see certain projects receive funding, as well as the commitment to certain social programs.
“We’re happy with the results from the budget, particularly with the fact that the Building Better Regions funding is being continued, and we’re very appreciative for the $13 million for the Cooee Bay pool complex,” Cr Ireland said. ....

The Yeppoon Aquatic Centre will receive $13 million in funding from the federal budget, after member for Capricornia Michelle Landry confirmed the announcement on Tuesday.
Senator Pauline Hanson wrote to Livingstone Shire Mayor Andy Ireland on April 6 saying she was assured by finance Minister Simon Birmingham the funding would be in the budget.
She said she did not usually advocate for these types of projects but supported the cash splash due to the Australian Defence Force’s expansion in the shire and lost rates to Livingstone Shire as a result.
On Tuesday Ms Landry confirmed this funding would be part of the budget announcement on Tuesday night. ....

A major Livingstone Shire facility that is at serious risk of collapse will have funding allocated to it in this week s federal budget, Queensland Senator Pauline Hanson has revealed.
In a letter sent to Livingstone Mayor Andy Ireland, dated April 6, Senator Hanson said she had been assured by Finance Minister Simon Birmingham that the cost to complete this project would be formally announced during budget week.
It was brought to my attention that council engineers, in association with qualified pool technicians have assessed the Yeppoon Aquatic Centre of being at serious risk of collapse, Senator Hanson wrote to Cr Ireland. ....
