COLONIE The Capital Region Chamber will honor six Capital Region women who have distinguished themselves in their careers and in service to the community during its 30th annual Women of Excellence awards program on May 21.
The hybrid event will be live streamed and except for sponsors and recipients, attendees will be able to celebrate with the recipients virtually.
The Women s Business Council of the Chamber announced the following honorees: Distinguished Career: Dr. Joanne Porter, Albany Medical Center; Excellence in the Professions: Theresa M. Alzheimer's Association program focuses on disease's impact on women | Health Matters

SYRACUSE â Alzheimerâs disease delivers a one-two punch for American women. Three out of every five people living with Alzheimerâs are female and nearly two-thirds of Alzheimerâs caregivers are women.
In commemoration of Womenâs History Month in March, the Alzheimerâs Association, Central New York Chapter will present a special education program that draws attention to these issues.
Women and Alzheimerâs will be presented from 10 a.m.-noon on March 3. The program will be delivered virtually and attendance is free.
