European Union (EU) member states pushback of asylum seekers and refugees seeking to enter Europe during the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the death of over 2,000, according to a report by the British newspaper the Guardian.
The report, based on joint investigations with European newspapers and data sourced from various organisations, revealed that some EU states have been using a series of coordinated tactics to push back tens of thousands of asylum seekers, and were reportedly supported by the EU s border agency Frontex. ....

In an article published on Wednesday, the British newspaper revealed that at least 40,000 people seeking asylum in the European Union have been pushed back illegally. These operations have led to the deaths of more than 2,000 people.

Guardian newspaper reported that EU member states have used illegal operations to push back at least 40,000 asylum seekers from Europe s borders during the pandemic. The deaths of more than 2,000 people are being linked to these practices.

EU member states have used illegal operations to push back at least 40,000 asylum seekers from Europe’s borders during the COVID-19 pandemic, linked to the death of more than 2,000 people, the Guardian can reveal.

A Balkans-based network of human rights groups has released a report on pushbacks against migrants in Greece and Croatia. It claims that systematic violence by Croatian and Greek authorities often amounts to torture or inhuman and degrading treatment.
