Body recovered at Lake Thom-A-Lex on Thursday

A person is dead after reportedly jumping off of the Lake Thom-A-Lex bridge on Yokley Road on Thursday afternoon, according to law enforcement.
At approximately, 5:30 p.m. deputies with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 700 Block of Yokely Road, adjacent to Lake-Thom-A-Lex Park after a 911 caller reported a person jumped from the bridge and re-surfaced face down in the water on the opposite side of the bridge .
Additional rescue agencies responded to the scene and were able to recover the body of the subject at Lake-Thom-A-Lex. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

He ll dot the last i and cross the last t in his career s history on Dec. 31 when he retires from his position as the county s planning and zoning director and begins living the plans he has mapped out for retirement.
The Fayetteville native rolled into Lexington at age 4 in 1959 when his father was hired as the plant manager at the former Edgewood Casuals, a shirt manufacturer. This wasn t the first time his family had walked the ground of Davidson County or had a hand in the planning of the county s future. That began with his maternal grandfather, Karl Sloan.
