Airbus : to test advanced autonomous features on helicopter Flightlab

Marignane, 26 April 2021 - Airbus is introducing autonomous features to its helicopter Flightlab through a project code-named Vertex. These technologies aim to simplify mission preparation and management, reduce helicopter pilot workload, and further increase safety.
The autonomous technology bricks set to integrate the Flightlab are: vision based sensors and algorithms for situational awareness and obstacle detection; fly-by-wire for enhanced auto-pilot; and an advanced human-machine-interface - in the form of a touchscreen and head worn display for inflight monitoring and control.
The combination of these technologies will enable a system that can manage navigation and route preparation, automatic take-off and landing, as well as following a predefined flight path. Airbus : to avoid redundancies in Germany, France, Britain

BERLIN (Reuters) - Airbus will make no forced redundancies in France, Germany and Britain, the European planemaker said on Thursday, as it reached an agreement with a German trade union to protect jobs until the end of 2023.
A spokesman for Airbus, which has been hit hard by slumping demand for aircraft in the coronavirus crisis, said other measures - such as voluntary redundancy programmes, early retirement or internal transfers - had been agreed instead.
Negotiations started later in Spain, the spokesman said.
Airbus has been struggling to reach targets to cut staff as part of a restructuring plan affecting up to 15,000 jobs, especially at its headquarters in France and in German plants, sources had earlier told Reuters. ....

Airbus : Saudia plans to order 70 Airbus, Boeing jets

DUBAI (Reuters) - State-owned Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) plans to order 70 airliners from Airbus and Boeing, Saudi news outlet Maaal reported on Monday, citing unidentified sources.
Saudia is in talks with local banks to raise 11.5 billion riyals ($3.07 billion) to partly finance an order for Airbus A321 narrow-bodied jets and Boeing 777 and 787 Dreamliner wide-bodies, Maaal said.
The report did not breakdown how many aircraft of each type Saudia was planning to purchase.
A banker, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Reuters that Saudia was in the market to raise debt for an order of around 70 new jets. ....
