SANTA FE – A former Santa Fe Police Department lieutenant contends in a lawsuit that she was forced into retirement after repeatedly being retaliated against by the city of Santa Fe because she reported time card fraud and evidence room violations to supervisors.
Michele Williams, who retired late last year, filed a lawsuit Dec. 11 against the city of Santa Fe and Mayor Alan Webber. She accuses the city of violating the Whistleblower Protection Act by demoting her from a field lieutenant to an administrative position and a lower salary.

Santa Fe County appoints new deputy manager, fire chief

Santa Fe County Manager Katherine Miller on Wednesday announced two new top county management appointments.

Lindsey succeeds Erik Litzenberg, who announced his retirement in late October. Litzenberg at one time headed the city’s fire department before becoming the city manager early in the term of Mayor Alan Webber.
Lindsey led the state Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for less than a year before stepping down to “focus on my family and health,” she said in a prepared statement in November 2019. She previously had served as a captain for Albuquerque Fire and Rescue. ....
