SHAH ALAM: Three individuals including a former journalist, well-known as Ibu Yati, pleaded not guilty in the Selangor Syariah High Court to expounding religious doctrines contrary to Islamic law and spreading them through Facebook between December last year until February this year.
The accused, Wan Norhayati, 42, Noorafiza Ahmad, 46 and Abdul Hamid Yeop Zainnuddin, 60, entered the plea after the charges were read out separately to them before Syarie Judge Mohammad Khalid [email protected]
Wan Norhayati was charged with three counts and Noorafiza, one count, under Section 7 of the Syariah Criminal Enactment (Selangor) 1995, namely, teaching or expounding any Islamic religious doctrine, ceremony or act contrary to Islamic law.

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia is set to open up further avenues in boosting bilateral ties in all fronts, especially in the trade and economic sphere between the two countries.
Saudi’s Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih pointed out the many achievements in so far, with Saudi being one of the largest trading partners for Malaysia and one of the 20 countries from Middle East with large investments in Malaysia.

Khalid pointed out the kingdom has two investment projects under establishment in Johor worth 64 billion Riyal (1 Riyal = RM1.09) and 44 other projects in Malaysia worth more than 1.038 billion Riyal, while Malaysia in turn has invested in 38 projects in Saudi with a total value of 1.59 billion Riyal.

Zulkifli: Thorough study needed before declaring teaching as deviant

PUTRAJAYA:The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) will hold talks with the states’ Islamic Religious departments before declaring a teaching as deviant or otherwise, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.

He said, to issue a fatwa (edict), matters must be studied thoroughly to ensure that the action or decision taken would not be considered as hasty or simply lacks information.
“We do not want to appear to say something quickly unless the matter has been agreed prior,” he told the media after the launch of Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) ‘Peduli Musaadah 2.0’ and post-flood relief mission here today, which was also attended by Yadim president Nasrudin Hassan.|
