Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys has confirmed the details of the final allocation of €20 million in funding through the LEADER Programme for the period 2021-2022, including €708,325 for Kilkenny.
The allocation is part of the €70 million in funding announced in April as part of Our Rural Future – the Government’s five year strategy designed support rural communities in their recovering from the impact of Covid-19. ....

Minister seeks commission approval for latest RDP

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue has submitted a proposal to the European Commission for the 10th amendment of the Rural Development Programme (RDP).
The commission will have to grant approval for changes to the RDP – which will be in place from 2021 to 2024 – before they can be implemented.
“This is an important amendment to the Rural Development Programme. It will formally put in place the EU funding that was agreed in the budget negotiations last year, and will build on the RDP measures already in place,” the minister said.
The amendment has been considered by the RDP Monitoring Committee, and the approval by the European Commission is expected in the coming months. ....

Commission approval sought for updated rural development programme

The 10th amendment to the Rural Development Programme (RDP) has been submitted to the European Commission for its approval, Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue has confirmed.
Announcing the submission, Minister McConalogue said Commission approval will formally put in place the EU funding that was agreed in the budget negotiations last year.
“It will build on the RDP measures already in place as well as supporting farmers and rural communities to contribute to the green economic recovery,” Minister McConalogue said.
“The amendment has been considered by the Monitoring Committee, and the approval by the European Commission is expected in the coming months. This is a further step in commitment to protect and enhance incomes for our farm families.” ....

Next multiannual financial framework and recovery package: Council moves to finalise adoption
The EU institutions are finalising the procedures for the adoption of the multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027 and the recovery package. The Council today adopted a set of decisions on legislative acts forming part of the package and laying down the EU budgetary framework for the coming years.
The decisions follow the European Council meeting on 10-11 December, as a result of which all member states could support the package.
New own resources decision
The legislative acts adopted today include the own resources decision, which defines how the EU budget is financed. The decision needs to be approved by all 27 EU member states in accordance with their constitutional requirements to enter into force. Its adoption today allows the ratification process to start. ....
