Two Cariboo Youth Athletes Recognized With An Award

The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity, and Recreation Council gave two Cariboo athletes a special honor.
Daine Dubois of Williams Lake and Isaac Bedford of 150 Mile House were given the 2020 Premier’s Award for Indigenous Youth Excellence in Sport.
Bedford is 16 years old and is involved with the Cariboo Archers and explained how he was targeted for this award.
“Right after the BC Winter Games there was a whole ton of applications that I filled out and I didn’t realize that this was one of them. It was a really neat thing to see that someone saw what I was doing and it was really encouraging to keep pushing, to keep doing well because it hasn’t been super easy the last year as there haven’t been any tournaments.” ....

High-performing athletes from Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon and other points across the B.C Interior have been honoured for the 2020 Premier’s Awards for Indigenous Youth Excellence in Sport.
The Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council in collaboration with the provincial government presented awards to Tuja Dreyer, 13, Judo, Swimming and Wrestling, Kelowna, Ross River Dena Council; James Hamming, 20,  Snowboard Cross Racing, Kamloops, Splatsin First Nation; Clinton Kaboni, 18, Field Lacrosse and Cross-Country, Merritt, Nipissing First Nation; Darian Williams, 17, Archery, Vernon, Splatsin First Nation, Isaac Bedford, 16, Archery, 150 Mile House, Métis Nation BC,  and Daine Dubois, 21, Hockey, Williams Lake, Cariboo Chilcotin Metis Association. ....
