Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network known as the Amotekun Corps have arrested 15 persons who encroached into the Owo forest reserves to mine gold.
The suspects were said to be operating in 50 locations inside the forest as at the time of the arrest.
The operatives gave the names of those arrested as Shuaibu Yahaya, Habbi Usman, Kabiru Waheed, Mohammed Nurudeen, Mohammed Sulaman, Ali Mustapha and Ismaila Wahab.
Others are Musa Zeehed, Gabbar Musa, Sule Adamu Abba Suleman, Usman Kebiru, Yahaya Danladi and Usman Ali Zekeri.
The Amotekun officials said they trekked for four hours into the forest led by local hunters after they got intelligence about activities of the gold miners. ....

The Ondo State Security Network also known as Operation Amotekun has announced the arrest of persons involved in illegal gold mining activities in the state.
The suspects, according to the commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, were arrested at different locations in Owo forest reserves on Sunday.
He gave the names of those arrested as Shuaibu Yahaya, Habbi Usman, Kabiru Waheed, Mohammed Nurudeen, Mohammed Sulaman, Ali Mustapha, Ismaila Wahab, Musa Zeehed, Gabbar Musa, Sule Adamu, Abba Suleman, Usman Kabiru, Yahaya Danladi and Usman Ali Zekeri.
The Amotekun official told journalists in Akure, Ondo State, on Monday that the suspects were arrested while operatives were enforcing the order given by Governor Rotimi Makinde that all illegal occupiers of forests reserved should vacate. ....

Amotekun Arrests Two Armed Herdsmen, Impounds 200 Cows

The Ondo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps, Tuesday, impounded about 200 cows and arrested two underaged herders.
The cows and the herders were arrested along Ijare/Irese Road in Ifedore Local Government area of the state.
The seized cows and the herders, were later led from where they were arrested to the headquarters of the security outfit, at Akure, the state capital.
The movement of the cows along Orita Obele-Road Block- Ilesha Garage through Oyemekun Road, caused traffic snarl while people were hailing the bravery of the Amotekun Corps.
Confirming the incident, the Commander of Amotekun Corps in the state, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said the cows and the herders were arrested for contravening the directive of the state government. ....
