From the windows of the Stanley Theatre, you can see most of the adjacent municipal parking lot on Genesee Street in downtown Utica. 
While it lacks the charm and magnificence of the theater, originally constructed in 1928, the parking lot still plays a crucial role in the Stanley’s success. Access to the lot is part of the pitch to big Broadway shows and other acts, said Executive Director Lisa A. della Santina-Wilsey.  
“This is really key for them to come in and having everything accessible here, instead of parking offsite and going back and forth,” della Santina-Wilsey said.  
While the theater has a loading dock, it can’t meet all of the needs of major Broadway productions or rock bands like Styx. Shows have had up to a dozen semitrailers, along with tour buses, director’s vehicles, catering and more.   ....
