Biography
Professor Bob Steele obtained his initial surgical and academic training in Edinburgh, Hong Kong and Aberdeen and was appointed as Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Nottingham in 1990. He was then appointed as Professor of Surgery at the University of Dundee in 1996, and, over the years, his main interests have focused on the treatment of and screening for bowel cancer.
Having led the UK demonstration pilot that was used to inform the decision to introduce national bowel cancer screening programmes throughout the United Kingdom, he is at present the Clinical Director of the Scottish Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. He has chaired several NHS groups related to bowel cancer and bowel cancer screening and he chaired the group that developed the latest set of bowel cancer guidelines for Scotland. ....
