Omaha man sentenced in South Dakota for Bald and Golden Eagle Trafficking

United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced that an Omaha, Nebraska, man convicted of a violation of the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and Migratory Bird Treaty Act was sentenced on February 24, 2021, by Daneta L. Wollmann, U.S. Magistrate Judge.
Jason Brodersen, age 49, was sentenced to one year of probation and was ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, a fine of $1,250, and a $35 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Brodersen was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2017. The conviction stems from Brodersen, without being permitted to do so, knowingly possessing and transporting bald and golden eagles and parts of the eagles. ....

OCDETF stands for Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces, which is a “keystone of the Attorney General’s strategy to reduce the availability of illicit narcotics throughout the United States using a prosecutor-led, multi-agency approach to combat transnational organized crime.” OCDETF identifies, disrupts and dismantles drug traffickers, money launderers, and transnational criminal organizations.

Florida man given federal prison time for operating organic seed scam in South Dakota

United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced that a Bradenton, Florida, man convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud and Money Laundering was sentenced on February 22, 2021, by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier.
Kent Duane Anderson, age 50, was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison, followed by two years of supervised release, restitution in the amount of $15,311,927.00, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $200.
Anderson was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 4, 2020. He pled guilty on November 5, 2020.
The conviction stemmed from incidents between 2012 and 2018, when Anderson owned and operated a business enterprise that exploited the organic grain market. Anderson purchased thousands of tons of small grain and seed products from non-organic suppliers and then re-sold those products as “organic” to wholesale distributors, brokers, and other buyers at ....
