Washington, May 5 (IANS) Pharmaceutical major Pfizer will likely seek the US Food and Drug Administration s emergency authorisation to administer its coronavirus vaccine among children between the ages of 2 and 11 in September, the media reported.

Canada authorises Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for adolescents

Canada’s health regulator has authorised Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for ages 12 and older.
Dr. Supriya Sharma, chief medical adviser at Health Canada, on Wednesday confirmed the decision for the ages to 12 to 15 and said it will help children return to a normal life.
The vaccine was previously authorised for anyone 16 or older.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is also expected to authorise Pfizer’s vaccine for young by next week, setting up shots for many before the beginning of the next school year.
The announcement comes barely a month after the company found that its vaccine, which is already authorised for those age 16 and older, also provided protection for the younger group. ....

By Vinod Nair MUSCAT: May 15 - The new regulations for expatriates to own properties in Oman will be announced once the subject is discussed in the Majlis Ash’shura and approved by the Cabinet, said a top official from the Ministry of Housing. Siham al Harthy, Director-General of Real Estate development, told the Observer: “We are ready from our side and we support ownership of properties by expatriates outside the Integrated Tourism Complexes (ITCs). The matter must go through the Majlis Ash’shura and approved by the Cabinet before we can go ahead.” ....

UPDATE: UL-LCG land swap bill advances

A bill that would approve a land swap between the city of Lafayette and UL has advanced in the legislature.
Yesterday, HB 335 by state Rep. Jean-Paul Coussan was sent to the Senate Natural Resources committee after it was passed by the House on April 29. So far, the bill has met no resistance; the legislature s website says it passed the House Committee on Natural Resources and Environment 13-0, and then passed the House 93-0. At issue is a plan that would swap land owned by the city with land owned by the university. The city needs a new fire station to replace the one that currently is on Johnston Street near UL. It s been in the works for several years. ....
