6 HEIs in Bicol sign MOA to share faculty resources, ensure quality education to Bicolanos – CHED – Manila Bulletin

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) said Saturday, May 8, that six Memoranda of Agreement have been signed among higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Bicol region to pave way for the sharing of faculty resources through the adjunct faculty system and ensure the delivery of quality education to Bicolanos.

The CHED said the following agreements were signed:
-Dr. Emilio B. Espinosa Sr. Memorial State College of Agriculture and Technology (DEBESMSCAT) and Sorsogon State University (SSU) on Industrial Technology
-DEBESMSCAT and Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) on Environmental Science
-DEBESMSCAT and Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) on Crop Science and Environmental Science ....

Good news! CHED says additional financial assistance for TES beneficiaries now available

In particular, CHED noted that TES beneficiaries who are taking licensure examinations after completing their degrees are eligible to claim the said assistance through the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) TES 3-B.
The granting of the said subsidy to qualified beneficiaries is made possible after CHED and UniFAST Board Chairman J. Prospero E. De Vera III signed Memorandum Circular No. 1, series of 2021 or the Supplemental Guidelines on the Disbursement of Additional Grants for Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Beneficiaries in Programs Requiring Professional License of Certification or TES-3B.
CHED said that TES beneficiaries may apply for reimbursement for a maximum amount of P10,000 for expenses such as application fees, notarial fees, review classes fees, insurance premium fees and documentation fees. ....

Angara: Growing number of out of school youth is a cause of concern
Senator Sonny Angara said today there is a need to pay more attention to the situation of out of school youth (OSY), particularly at this time when their numbers are growing due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education.
As chairman of the Committee on Youth, Angara noted that the increase in the number of OSY is a serious issue that could lead to bigger problems later on if left unchecked.
Based on data from the Department of Education (DepEd), close to four million students were not able to enroll for the current school year. ....

Following the recent launch of the Landbank Mastercard Prepaid Card (LMPC), 25,161 Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) grantees from 135 higher education institutions in Central Visayas for the first semester of the academic year 2020-2021 will be able to “easily and safely” receive their stipend despite the pandemic, said the Commission on Higher Education (Ched).
Ched, through its attached agency, Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (Unifast), in partnership with the Landbank of the Philippines, launched on Jan. 15 the LMPC for beneficiaries of the TES program.
According to Ched Chairperson J. Prospero E. De Vera III, the LMPC is intended to address the challenge of disbursing financial assistance to more than 700,000 TES and Tulong Dunong Program grantees nationwide during the pandemic. ....

CHED launches new LANDBANK system

CEBU CITY, Jan. 25 (PIA) The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), through its attached agency Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) and in partnership with Landbank of the Philippines, launched the LANDBANK Mastercard Prepaid Card (LMPC) on Jan. 15, 2021.
This is for the beneficiaries of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Program through the initiative and approval of the UniFAST Board led by CHED Chairperson J. Prospero E. De Vera III.
Through the LMPC, student-beneficiaries of TES can now easily and safely receive their stipends amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The partnership of the three government agencies is the latest initiative in the implementation of the TES Program to address the challenges of disbursing the financial aid to more than 700,000 TES and Tulong Dunong Program (TDP) grantees during the pandemic. ....
