VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota volleyball will face off with Missouri in the opening round of the NCAA National Tournament on April 14, inside the CHI Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Coyotes, making their second NCAA appearance at the Division I era in the last three seasons, won the Summit League Tournament title with a thrilling five-set win over top-seeded Denver on Saturday.

SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota overcame an 0-2 set deficit to rally past Denver and claim the Summit League tournament title in thrilling fashion on Saturday afternoon inside the Sanford Pentagon.
The Coyotes and Pioneers battled through five rigorous sets, with each team having match points in set five, before ultimately South Dakota would prevail by final tally of 19-25, 26-28. 27-25, 26-24 and 19-17.
It was the first time since 2015 that a team had rallied from an 0-2 deficit to claim the Summit League championships and South Dakota is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three seasons, after outlasting Denver in five sets both of those times. ....

After taking the Summit League Title in a five set thriller over Denver, USD volleyball is in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history, and will face Missouri in the opening round of the tournament.
“I’m really excited about the matchup,” Maddie Wiedenfeld said. “I think that our team is super motivated after this weekend, and we’re really ready to go into the tournament.”
USD defeated Kansas City and Denver in the Summit League Tournament to earn the automatic bid over the weekend. Both matches went five sets, with the championship game against Denver needing extra points in four of five sets to declare a winner. ....
