MDOT inspection of lift bridge on U.S 31 will impact boat, vehicle traffic

MANISTEE, MI – A well-traveled lift bridge in Manistee will be down a lane next week as crews from the Michigan Department of Transportation complete a detailed inspection.
The work, which will require a single-lane closure and a traffic shift, with one lane open in each direction, will take place at the bridge on U.S. 31 (Cypress Street) May 3-7.
The work will also require an adjustment from boats traveling on the Manistee River. From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, the bridge will open for marine traffic with 15 minutes of advance notice on Monday and Friday, and with three hours of advance notice Tuesday through Thursday. ....
