Prince Edward Island reports no new COVID-19 cases Tuesday; expands vaccine plan

Health officials on Prince Edward Island are reporting no new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
P.E.I. currently has 28 active cases of COVID-19, the highest number of active infections the province has had, to date. The province has had 143 cumulative cases of the novel coronavirus.
For the first time in the last year, there are actually more active cases in P.E.I. than in Nova Scotia, said Dr. Heather Morrison, P.E.I. s chief public health officer. I do remain concerned about our current COVID-19 situation.
Morrison says provincial labs have received results of genetic sequencing for P.E.I. s recent COVID-19 cases. ....

P.E.I. to move out of lockdown and into 'circuit breaker' at midnight; one new case reported

Prince Edward Island will move out of its 72-hour lockdown as of midnight Thursday, and into a modified circuit breaker, public health officials announced Wednesday.
Beginning midnight Thursday, P.E.I. will enter a 10-day modified circuit breaker which will last until 8 a.m. on March 14.
“As I’ve said before there is no playbook for dealing with COVID-19,” said P.E.I. chief public health officer Dr. Heather Morrison during a news update on Wednesday. “Based on our own experience and that of our colleagues in Atlantic Canada, the importance of going fast and hard is the most effective approach. I would rather be here to explain why we acted quickly to protect the health of Islanders as opposed to why we did not act fast enough, or do enough.” ....

P.E.I. reports one new case, seven active, and potential exposures amid 'concerns' of community spread

Prince Edward Island reported one new case of COVID-19 on Friday, after five were announced in the last two days. There are currently seven known active cases on the island.
In Friday’s first unscheduled briefing, Dr. Heather Morrison, the province’s chief public health officer expressed concern about close contacts from previous cases.
Morrison said it s concerning that officials haven t identified the source of the cluster.
We certainly have concerns about possible community spread in P.E.I. Morrison said in a second unscheduled briefing later on Friday afternoon. This is why we are focused on increased testing. ....
