Oklahoma tribal gaming industry halts, recovers during COVID pandemic

Or maybe it’s the promise of an effective vaccine to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Gaming activity at Oklahoma’s tribal owned casinos resumed at a brisk pace in the last half of 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic forced a temporary halt to gaming in the spring.
Oklahoma revenues from Indian gaming exclusivity fees for the first seven months of fiscal 2021, which began July 1, totaled $87,693,040.23 compared with $89,550,066.11 in the same period the previous year.
That’s a decline of $1,857,025.88, or just 2%.
And the industry appears on pace to see pre-pandemic gains for the rest of the fiscal year. Gaming exclusivity fees of $12,422,136.72 for January 2021 actually topped the same month the previous year by $1.695 million. That s a 15% increase over the 2020 total of $10,726,152.85.  ....

The exhibit ends Thursday, but if you have a chance before then, drop by and see their colorful works exploring contemporary female warriors.
Called “The Visage of Modern Matriarchy,” the exhibit started with smalling’s stylized female Native American warriors painted with acrylic on birch panels. Moan’s corsets complement the paintings and offer commentary, such as her corset the “Trail of Broken Treaties,” which includes cloth depicting the words of actual treaties. Smalling’s paintings are “inspired by Eastern tribal hieroglyphs and Moan’s corsets “manifest this ....
